Saturday - August 25, 2018

The course takes 5 hours, and consists of visit to "rudické propadání" cave. They will lend you all the necessary equipment, you need just warm underwear, spare clothes, socks and gloves. You'll descend on ladders down to the cave (>112m), crawl through some narrow passages and climb back. This cave is otherwise closed to public. Prepare to get completely wet, and tired. Only for decently fit people not afraid of dark depths... It is for groups of 6-10 people, so we'll try to join other random people on Sunday. After the excursion, we might join others on welcome walk. Course starts at 9 AM at the windmill in Rudice, so we have to leave the camp at 8 AM at latest. Price is 1400,- CZK per person. There are free places only for excursion that takes place on Saturday 25.8. So if you arrive friday evening, you may join them. I considered deleting this event, but it did not work...

Start: Aug. 25, 2018, 8 a.m.
End: Aug. 25, 2018, 2 p.m.

The cave Balcarka is within walking distance (7 km) from the camp. It is not so crowded as punkevni, so it does not need reservations. Good for those who cannot go on Thursday trip. You can also go by bike (ask at single trail near the camp.) Return by foot or by bus (transfer at Vilémovice). For those who are more interested in valking than underground we can continue further 5 km to Holštejn, and have a look at another place where river enters underground. Return by bus. If the waiting at Vilémovice would be too long we can continue on foot 5 km to the hall. Trasa z Jedovnice do Holštejn, 12 km - 03:34 hod, https://mapy.cz/s/2ZsdH

Start: Aug. 27, 2018, 10 a.m.
End: Aug. 27, 2018, 4 p.m.
We do not have any pots and dishes in the kitchen. Although we can borrow some from the reception I think it would be not be enough for a classic potluck. We have a big barbecue, so we'll fire it up. Get some stock at the shops downtown, there's butcher, and shop with local (regional) products where they might have some good stuff. There won't be any potd, we have our own beer and movies can follow.

Start: Aug. 27, 2018, 7 p.m.
End: Aug. 27, 2018, 11 p.m.

At the beginning of the 60´s this cave was taken over by the Czechoslovakian army. They had built an underground nuclear shelter inside of one corridor in the cave. It was top secret until November 2006, and accessible now. So you can see how a cold war nuclear shelter looks like. http://www.cavemk.cz/the-vypustek-cave/ I'd like you to mark if you are interested so that I can make a booking and ask for English speaking guide. The caves are quite busy, so booking is necessary at leas two weeks in advance. The cave is in nearby village Křtiny, where you can visit a beautiful church. We can go there by bus/cars, and walk back (9-12 km depends on the route you choose.) Long route: https://en.mapy.cz/s/2BkJg Shor route: https://en.mapy.cz/s/2BkJD

According to the discussion at the end of last LBW, let's try to dedicate one full day to talks, so that the talkers do not have to wait for hikers to arrive to the hall. I think Wednesday should be good for that.

Punkevní jeskyně is the most famous in Moravian karst. The visit takes you to the bottom of abyss Macocha, and then it takes you on boat ride in underground. Advance reservations are necessary, so please subscribe here. Punkva cave is not reachable by bus, but we can take some cars to Macocha abyss, have a look into its depth, have another look on the bottom of a pint of beer, and descend 1.5 km to the cave entrance. Lazy ones can even take the funicular. After that we can make a round trip to the Kateřinská cave, and back to cars. (6 km). If not enough cars are available, we can take a short bus ride to Vilémovice - then the round trip would be 10 km. Full trip from the camp to both caves would be 20 km. So there are many options according to your fitness. Map is here: https://en.mapy.cz/s/ZGxl to see the height profile (and switch languages) look at the right bottom corner. We have a reservation (in my name) for visit for 11 people at 13:00, together with some other English speaking group. However it would be good to be at least 15 to be guarateed to have an English speaking guide in case the other group would cancel their visit. Tickets have to be collected at least 40 minutes before at Macocha info point.

Start: Aug. 30, 2018, 10:30 a.m.

The backend of Docker uses mainly namespaces, cgroups, capabilities, and some more stuff to create and separate containers from each other. This subsystem is called runc and implements the Open Container Interface OCI. If you don't trust this mechanism, you might try Kata Containers. It implemrnts the OCI spec bymeans of a very thin hypervisor layer. After a short introduction to the technology behind Kata, we will explore how to install, configure, and use it in a Docker framework. We could do some benchmarking, too.

Start: Aug. 31, 2018, 11 a.m.
End: Aug. 31, 2018, noon
We shall start after the container presentation Proposal for tomorrow. There is a random hacker monument at #3. Those who missed the welcome walk can then continue to "rudické propadání". Those who already were there can take another path and get lost in the woods elsewhere https://mapy.cz/s/30pRh

Start: Aug. 31, 2018, noon
End: Aug. 31, 2018, 2 p.m.
The live distance test of 60GHz Wifi. Master unit attached to the event hall Terrace vertical drain pipe. Slave unit attached to telescopic pole on Land Rover. Due various timings on Friday this is being sent after event for long term reference. Six people did attend. So you can anticipate a 60GHz Wifi document on the mailing list from the lecture which will incorporate the live distance results. Cheers, David
