Want to go off grid?
Organised by
Andy Fletcher
I have just purchased a barn[1] in Shropshire. It is possible to connect it to the grid supply but expensive. Because of this <p>I have done a lot of research on batteries, PV, turbines etc. I've been gathering data on UK solar performance and wind speeds. During the talk I'll explain power requirements and the options and costs for going off grid. I'll also discuss PWM vs MPPT and how solar thermal panels may not be the cheapest solution for hot water. I will also briefly discuss why, apart from for watering the garden, rainwater harvesting is a waste of time. I'm also looking for comments and experience from other LBWers too! I might have made my mind up about how to power my place by the LBW :-) [1] Well, a cow shed really but barn sounds much more upmarket!
